Did you know that when parents are involved at their child’s school, it affects their child’s academic progress? Studies show that students with involved parents earn higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt well to school (www.centerforpubliceducation.org).
One of the best ways to become involved with TCS is to get involved with our Parent Teacher Connection—PTC. The purpose of our PTC is far more than just fundraising. It is the heartbeat of our school and is largely responsible for the positive atmosphere we enjoy here at Trinity Catholic. We depend upon our parents to help run student-centered events such as our Halloween Party, Wellness Weeks and Play Day. Yes, it does require some investment of time and work; but it is well worth it. The meetings are upbeat, positive, and a lot of fun! You will receive a School Reach call informing you of the time and date of our first PTC meeting.
In order to streamline things a bit this year, we are planning to model our PTC after the national PTA organization. We will continue to have a President and Vice-President who will oversee PTC operations, but we will add committee chair people who will head up each PTC event. These chair people will be part of the PTC Board and will come to monthly meetings to report on their event, as well as to oversee a committee of their own.
We thank Mrs. Valdez, Mr. and Mrs. DuBray, and Mrs. Austin for blessing us with their involvement this year and look forward to meeting new members soon!
